My eldest and I have been planning a portrait session for a while and last week we finally pulled it together. She hoped for some photos of her with her guitar. And I wanted to capture the young artist Dave and I see daily.
When we visited New York a few years ago, Jaz loved it – “I want to move here when I’m older.” I love thinking of her in her New York loft as a young adult, writing her songs and being so fab and happy.
She has two albums worth of her own songs already and lyrically, she sees the world far more intensely and thoughtfully than I certainly did at 12. Her music is completely awesome. And yet, she’s still just 12 and I wanted the photos to reflect that also.
We went to a studio – she played and sang, and I photographed. It was the best morning. xo
